Organic shops can be hard to find. Especially when abroad..

7 hotspots in Lisbon!

Sophie Stone Blog Organic Hotspots Lisbon

Or better put, the stores selling those ‘better’ products can be hard to find. If you’re interested in organic food/ fair trade clothes/ artisan made goodies you’ll probably know where in your own neighbourhood or town to find them. However, when abroad it can be quite a challenge to track down that one little hidden gem of a boutique selling the perfect gift for your colleagues baby shower, or what ever..

At least, that is what I experience when planning my city trips. When going to another city I love strolling around small little boutiques discovering products and brands I didn’t know before. However, when I try to do research before going taking off, I find it often hard to find the nice (organic) places to be.

Just before taking off to Lisbon recently, I experienced the same issue: I spend some time Google organic/sustainable fashion in Lisbon but this didn’t return the addresses I was looking for. Fortunately, a good friend of mine went there shortly before me and gave me some lovely addresses. This combined with some nice places I discovered while being on the grounds leads me to present to you a list of cute places to visit when in Lisbon:

Wish, a slow coffee house

Organic Hotspots Lisbon Wish Coffee

Situated in the LX factory at the Rua Rodrigues Faria, 103, this great coffee house x Cafetaria sells great juices, sandwiches, salades, coffee (of course) and even Dutch sweets 'Poffertjes'. A great lunch spot!

Rutz, shoes made of cork

This pretty shop also in the LX Factory (Rua Rodrigues Faria, 103) sells both men's and women's shoes made of cork (one of Portugal's biggest export products). Lot of styles and models.

Organii, organic cosmetics & kids clothes

Great store store selling organic products like cosmetics and kids clothes, but even recyclable diapers made of bamboo and tampons made of organic certified cotton. Also situated in LX Factory (Rua Rodrigues Faria, 103).

The Trend Hunter's Closet

Not that organic, but a store with a nice urban/industrial looking interior and some great clothing items and shoes. Brands like Just Female, Wrangler and Fashionology. Again situated in the LX Factory Rua Rodrigues Faria, 103.

El Dorado, women's clothing vintage & new

Rua do norte 23

Situated in what might be the hottest neighborhood of Lisbon Barrio Alto this boutique on Rua do Norte 23 has a lot to offer: great vintage as well as new items for tailored to various needs and tastes!

Time Out Mercado da Ribeira

Great place to grab lunch, dinner or a snack. A large food market with a great selection of shops (30 in total) and cuisines. From tapas, to sushi, meat and sweets. Hardest part will be to make up your mind on what to eat.. Enjoy! Address: Av. 24 de Julho 49, Portugal

Restaurant Pharmacia

La Farmacia

Lovely restaurant with very friendly staff and great atmosphere. Set in the museum of pharmacies and decorated in Pharmacy style (not over the top). Tapas-like menu with dishes to share. Beautiful business card as well. Address: Rua Marechal Saldanha no. 2.
